Hewlett Packard 51626A, 51629, 51626G, 51629G & 51633M Cartridges

If your cartridge has been sitting empty for any length of time follow this procedure before refilling, for maximum results.

A. Firmly place a piece of tape over Aperature "C" on the bottom of the cartridge - see diagram on bottom of the next page. Using the following refilling procedure, insert 10 ml. of Cartridge & Print Head Cleaner into the cartridge and swirl around. And allow it soak over night.

B. Remove the tape over (Aperture "C") in order to drain the solvent and proceed refilling with ink.

1. This cartridge is regulated by an aerator (Aperture "C") as shown on the bottom of the next page. This must be sealed air tight to prevent any ink from leaking while you are refilling. Use adhesive tape to seal this aperture.

2. The older cartridges had a filling hole on the top sealed by a plastic or stainless steel ball bearing, as shown in photo above right. This must be removed by pushing it into the cartridge using a pointed object such as a ball point pen. IMPORTANT: The aperture in the center of the top (Aperture "B", see above) must NOT be pierced.

NOTE: New versions of this cartridge do not have this ball bearing therefore an 1/8" hole / 3mm must be made in the same position shown. You can use an Exacto Knife, Utility Knife, Drill Bit or the eyelet screw included in the kit to make this hole. This hole must be made perfectly round.

3. Place the syringe snuggly onto the cartridge filling hole. Pull out as much air as you can with the syringe from the hole. This will withdraw the air from inside the cartridge. Note: Do not remove the syringe yet.

4. With the still ontop the filling hole, seal up the top of Aperture "B" using a piece of tape. Then remove the syringe from the filling hole.

5.Attach the needle to the syringe and fill with ink.

6. The cartridge should now be placed in an upright position on a paper towel and filled with 20 ml. of ink through the filling hole.

7. Reseal the filling hole with black electrical tape and remove the tape from Aperature "B".

Important: The printhead can touch the paper towel when letting the cartridge rest on a paper towel to catch drippings. The printhead should not remain on the towel for more than two minutes. This will prevent the wicking effect which will empty your cartridge.

8. (Optional - This step prepares an older cartridge for refilling.) Lay the cartridge on its side and inject 1/4 ml. of Cartridge & Print Head Cleaner into (Aperture "C"). Leave cartridge on its side for approximately 30 minutes.

9. Now remove the tape over (Aperture "C"), ink will now drip from the nozzles. Blot the nozzles with the tissue until ink stops dripping.

10. Rinse the syringe with water and dry for future use.

11. Reinsert cartridge into printer and run several test cycles until print quality is restored. Note: Allowing the cartridge time to repressurize by having it sit overnight will restore print quality.

Note: Immediately refill any empty cartridges.
