Below is list of Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Will refilling void my printers warranty?

    Answer:
The answer to that question is simple - NO. Consumers are often told by salesman or service personnel that competitive ink products may not be used in the consumers printer during the warranty period. They accompany this with the claim that "The use of competitive brands of ink will void (or invalidate) the warranty", with the statement or implication that only the original equipment cartridges and ink may be used. This, of course, tends to cast doubt on the quality of the refilling products being used.

This claim, however, is simply not true. Under the Magnuson-Moss warranty act and general principles set forth by the Federal Trade Commission, a manufacturer may not require the use of their brand of user replaceable consumables unless they are providing that item to you free of charge under the terms of the warranty. It's the same thing when General Motors recommends the use of GM oil and GM oil filters in their automobiles for best performance. Any consumer knows that Valvoline or Pennzoil products are acceptable, and can be used without affecting the warranty - the reason this can be done is written in these laws.

Here are some excerpts and quotes from manuals and/or manufacturers employees - complete with references:

"If refilling a cartridge damages the printer, then we may decline to fix specific printer damage that is caused by the refilled cartridges..... But it's not true that we do not honor warranties for people who refilled their cartridges."

"Canon has more engineers dedicated to creating quality ink for providing the best results for output on Bubble Jet printers than any other organization. Canon does not prohibit the use of third-party inks and the use of third-party inks does not invalidate the product's limited warranty. However, Canon cannot guarantee the quality or performance of your printer when you are using inks from other suppliers."

"Furthermore, some printer companies have led consumers to believe that using refill kits will void printer warranties, but Hewlett-Packard, Epson, and other vendors with whom we spoke say that simply isn't true. A company may legally charge for any printer repairs caused by a leaky refilled cartridge, but it must honor the warranty for other types of repairs."

  2. How can I get dried ink out of my printer head so I can print again?

    Answer:
Place the clogged cartridge in about 1/4 - 1/2 inch of warm water for a few minutes. When ink starts to slowly leak out take the cartridge out of the water and dry it using a soft cloth or "Q-tip." Then place it back in your printer and run the print head cleaning utility that comes with your printer software. You may have to run this 2-4times before printing quality is reestablished. This works about 75% of the time, if it does not then the cartridge has dried out too much and will have to be replaced.
  3. How long can the ink be stored before it goes bad?

    Answer:
The shelf life of our inks is around 3 years so it is advantageous to purchase a larger kit because they have a better per ounce price.
  4. Most of the ink I added seems to leak out from the bottom of the cartridge.

    Answer:
This problem is 99% due to a leaky seal in the filling hole. Make sure that when you seal the filling hole with the tape that you seal it good and press on it. The reason why we recommend using black electrical tape ($1 a roll at any hardware store, you probably already have some) is that we have noticed that plugs tend not to seal the hole very well.
  5. I have refilled my cartridge but the ink comes out in lines or not at all.

    Answer:
99% of the time this happens when a empty cartridge is left unfilled for more the 15min. Avoid letting the cartridge sit (refill right after it empties) to prevent the printing nozzles from drying out.
NOTE: If you do get dry nozzles, try our unclogging procedure (#2 above)
